MC ignores track number? Genre on start?

Hi,

I have two quick questions I'd appreciate any assistance with
answering. I'm currently in the process of reorgaizing my CDs to make
things look nice in MC. Part of that involves condensing two disc
albums into one. To keep the correct song order, I've been going into
WMP's Advanced Tag Editor and making sure the second disc's first song
is the next number in sequence after the last song from the first disc.
However, WMP/MC still ignores the track number. Is there anyway to
force it?

Secondly, I have quite a few CDs, and I get several seconds of loading
when I access My Music. While the album art on boot is pretty, is there
anyway to force MC to start up with, say, a genre view first to help
cut down on loading?
