your answers have been VERY helpful. I understand much better now how to set
it all up.

I am not sure if this will be useful to you, but you don't nees an Xbox to
tranmit media wirelessly. You only need a Wi-Fi set up at PC and TV, which
should be much cheper, plus you can use the WiFi at your house for any other
purpose, like making mobile calls via Skype, for example.

As far as the MC is concerned, I believe that by using Wi-Fi for the media
and your S-Video to use your TV as a monitor you have those two inputs into
two different TV channels. By doing that you can 'isolate' Media and PC work.
You don't need to 'extend' the monitor into your TV, but simply have two
video outputs from your PC, one to the monitor and one to the TV. Since only
one person can use the PC at any one time, you and your wife can work on the
PC or TV without any mouse being lost (minor advantage). You can watch Media
files on your TV (on the Wi-FI channel) while your wife is at the PC. If you
want to use the PC in the TV, then you simply change TV channel (the S-Video
in your case).

The other advantage is that you don't have to place, or resize the MC
windows into the hidden screen (your TV). Plus if you want to use the Media
center in the PC room, you can also do it, while at the moment I guess you
can't do it as the windows is placed on the TV.

hum...I just thought that maybe when you activate your MC from the TV, the
same window may pop up in the PC monitor, interfering with what your wife
would be doing on the PC...but maybe not...not sure. I will check
