I'm using a x800 without problems.

Did you remove the cyberlink/ati decoder completely before trying the Nvidia
decoder?

The pairing of the NVidia decoder, with an ATI card with the latest catalyst
drivers definitely works, unless there is something specific with your video
card that causes this issue (it shouldn't in all honesty)
