Well, I can at least answer #2...the rollups (and subsequent patches) aren't
"required" or security-critical updates, so they don't show up in the
list...instead you have to look to the link titled (I think) optional
updates. I have no idea if Rollup 2 will fix your first issue, but you never
can tell.
It helps, apparently, to do it in this order...
Update/add .NET Framework 1.1, reboot.
Get the .Net 1.1 update, install, reboot.
Update to Rollup 2, reboot.
Update to the patches to Rollup 2, reboot.
Probably would also be a good thing to make sure you have the most current
drivers for your tuner and graphics card too...
