How can I tell MCE 2005 not to display "pause" and "volume" widgets?

I am using MCE's slide show capability to present some "finished"
shows. I would like to be able to pause the slide show and re-start
it, and fade the music playing in the background, without having
the little "pause" and "volume" icons display on the TV.

Is there an option to disable these on-screen displays? (Or a
hack? ;-)
