This probably won't help you, but my configuration is as follows:
Linksys extender, hardwired to a linksys a/g router. Then a wireless hop of
about 50 feet to the MCE box. This configuration works fine with an
ocassional net congestion, but it usually sorts itself out quickly. I've
tried to go completely wireless with less than stellar results. It sounds to
me like your wireless hop is from the extender to the router? Maybe that's
the difference?
