Hi,
What are your system specs? If you are seeing an improvement with these
drivers it could indicate that there is something else also causing a freeze.
The main things I have found (and I've built several MCE2005 systems with
widely varying hardware) apart from the VGA drivers are the chipset and TV
card drivers.
SiS chipsets are very unreliable with MCE, even with the latest drivers, and
I would not recommend using this. The older VIA chipsets are OK (MVP#, Apollo
Pro## series, KT1##, KN1##, KM1##, KT2##, KN2##, KM2##, P4X2##, P4X3##,
P4M2##) if you use the retro 4 in 1 drivers and I have had no trouble with
newer VIA chipsets and the latest Hyperion drivers. Most recent Intel
chipsets also work well with the current Intel drivers (or even the XP/MCE
ones). I don't recommend using any built in Intel graphics controllers,
although the recent ones do work. Nvidia nForce chipsets 3 & 4 are fine, but
I have had trouble with the older 2 series.
I tend to use Hauppauge DVB-T cards or USB 2 tuners and the 23227 version is
best for the PCI or MCE card or the 23276 drivers for the USB 2 tuner.
Hope this helps,
Rory
