Re: Major 2005 Rollup 2 Problems

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

The message that you need to be running MCE 2005 is solved by going to Start, Run and entering REGEDIT Goto:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center

Look in the right pane for the value, Ident. This should read 3.0 for MCE 2005, and 3.1 for MCE 2005 with Update Rollup 1. Double click the Ident value and enter either 3.0 or 3.1, it really doesn't matter which, as far as I can determine. If the Ident value doesn't exist, right click in a blank area of the right pane, select New, String value and name it Ident. Then modify it as per the above.
