It does not look like Microsoft will support DVB-S cards (with or without a
CAM) until Windows Vista MCE (i.e. end of 2006) at the earliest. Even then
there is no guarantee as Microsoft have not yet officially stated IF they
are going to support DVB-S and DVB-C, let alone WHEN.
Making matters worse is that by then some people may have already moved on
to using DVB-S2 (being used for the HD launches in Europe, e.g. by Sky).
In view of the fact that it will be OVER A YEAR before there is even a
remote chance of MCE supporting your card you only really have two options.
1. Use an analogue connection to an ordinary satellite set top box (this
approach is officially supported by MCE 2005).
2. Give up using MCE 2005 at all for the moment at least and switch to using
something like MediaPortal which does support your Twinhan card. See
http://www.maisenbachers.de/dokuw/install:capturecards:start
Or alternatively
3. Make a Voodoo doll of Bill Gates and stick pins in it until they come up
with official support for DVB-S
.
