Re: Lag behind live TV

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

The delay is required to support the time-shifting
features of Live TV, such as pause, rewind, and fast-
forward. It can not be disabled in Media Center.

It's not just the encoding. It's the fact that MCE
is encoding the analog video to MPEG-2 (DVR-MS) and
writing it to your hard drive. What you are actually
watching *Live* is really the recording from your
hard drive.

Hi all,
Please can anyone help with some problems I have encountered.
I have just installed MCE, and a Hauppauge 150 MCE TV card. I connect this to the S Video output from my Sky + satellite box, with the audio going to the audio input on the TV card. The issues I have found are that the TV via the card lags behind 'live' TV, and the sound output does not seem as crisp as it does if I take the feed from the Sky box direct to the 'line in' input on my motherboard. The reason why the lag is important to me is that when using the remote control to navigate the Sky planer it is a nuisance because what happens on the screen lags a couple of seconds behind what you press on the remote (my wife can't get her head around it at all!!). If I could remove the lag then not only could we change channel more easily, but also I could use the line in on the motherboard for audio, which would sort out my second issue because the audio and picture would be in sync again. I understand that the lag is due to encoding taking place on the video card, but is there a way to 'turn off' this feature? I have read suggestions that this may be possible by making a change to registry settings, but can't find the details.

Many thanks
.
