The ability to play commercial (pressed) DVDs has little to do with
the abilty of a burner on a PC, or a set-top burner, to produce a
good (readable) double layer DVD on the available DVD DL blanks or
the abilty of a reader to read them.
Correction: The ability to play commercial (pressed) DVDs has
*nothing* to do with the abilty of a burner on a PC, or a set-top
burner, to produce a good (readable) double layer DVD on the
available DVD DL blanks or the abilty of a reader to read them.
However, your previous post refers to commercial DVDs ("Aren't most
commercial dvds dual layer?"), and your current post seems to refer
to something else ("they play fine on my standalones, even the picky
cheapo one that refuses to play many commercial dvds"), so perhaps
you could clarify what you're talking about.
