RE: how to get 1080i display??

Don't focus on 1080i so much. Your TV will do 720p, so just use the native
1366 x 720 from the MCE2005 machine. Set that via the Windows Desktop,
Properties,

For the ability to go back and forth from 4:3 and 16:9 this requires a few
things:

>From within MCE2005,
Settings, TV, Configure your TV or Monitor
Flat Panel, then type of connection and so on......
Complete the wizard...
Tune to a analog 4:3 channel, say NBC or CNN

On the TV.....(everyone's menu's are different)
16:9 standard display
No Zoom
HDMI input

Your goal:
A 4:3 picture that has bars on the side...

Troubleshooting,
Make sure from the MCE2005 machine you do not have zoom enable
How to tell? When NBC is on hit the info button on the remote zoom=1?

BTW, what type of video card and DVD decoder are you using?
