My brother has that keyboard (Microsoft Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media
Center Edition... as labelled on the keyboard) and I've used it myself.
It won't work with MCE2004 (tried it here). Presumably it won't work with
MCE2002 either. This is probably due to the update that you need to
download which requires MCE2005. Not sure if you can hack out the drivers
from the qfe, I didn't bother trying as that would not result in a supported
configuration (who'd want to use older versions of MCE anyways)..
It will work with MCE2005 (post update), but only if you have the receiver -
if you have a receiver, you probably already have the remote anyways unless
you know of a way to get a receiver without a remote.
On the box, it also says it won't work with Extender devices (Xbox or
Standalone Extenders).
If you have any other questions, just ask and I'm sure someone will answer.
Looking back on the thread, I think you've thoroughly confused which
keyboards you are talking about (whether it's this media center specific
ones, or other standard microsoft keyboard offerings). Rather than provide
web links to third party sites, you should list the product name in
question, or provide a direct link to Microsoft's website, so that any
confusion can be minimized. All the keyboards are listed there at
