Re: MCE 2005 Accessories

Pat,

I'm not sure if you misread Doug's response or I am misreading yours. Doug
mentioned that the keyboard does not come with a receiver which means it
won't work at all with your system. You will need to have an IR receiver
plugged into the MCE system for the keyboard or the remote to work (or the
IR blasters, if needed). The only way to get a compatible receiver is to buy
the Phillips or MS remote (if you are building you own system). You might be
able to find someone selling just a receiver on eBay or a surplus place, but
usually they are almost as expensive as buy the remote with the receiver. I
built my own system using a stereo style case that already had an IR
receiver built in, thinking I could just use my Logitech 680 universal
remote to control the MCE box, but I finally gave up trying to make that
work and bought a MS remote just to use the receiver.
