I bought a Vaio and the upgrade 2005 so I forward it to you (the ReadmeFirst
file). It might help. It uses many Vaio applications. Contact me if you got
any questions.
Before Performing the Update
The update process takes over 1 hour to complete. Before performing the
update procedure, prepare your computer by taking the following steps:
Use the VAIO Recovery Wizard to create a set of recovery discs. For detailed
instructions, refer to VAIO Recovery Options in Windows Help and Support by
clicking the Start menu, clicking Help and Support, and clicking VAIO
Recovery Options.
Install all updates to Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition that are
designated "high-priority" updates, including Windows XP Service Pack 2, from
the Microsoft Windows Update Web site, http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/.
Update any virus protection software installed on your computer to the
latest version. Visit the Web site of the manufacturer of your virus
protection software for more information.
Download and install all software and driver updates listed on the support
page for your VAIO computer model at the Sony VAIO Support Web site,
http://www.sony.com/pcsupport.
If possible, ensure your computer is free from spyware and adware by
scanning your computer with a spyware and adware protection program. A
variety of such programs are available for free on the Internet or for
purchase from software retailers.
Back up your personal files (for example, word processing documents, e-mail,
pictures, and Internet favorites) to another computer or to CD or DVD discs.
