Re: New HD Media Center Edition

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Firstly, thanks for your reply. And, what you say is true and I know that
DVI is a subset of HDMI. However, in the real world there is a difference.
Most TVs that have HDMI inputs do not take a "converted" DVI. That is, most
manufacturers are looking for an HDMI signal from a HD tuner, upscaling DVD,
etc. and state in their literature that the input is not compatible with a PC
signal. On the other hand, all TVs with a DVI input (that I know of) handle
PC input fine. Converter cables (HDMI to DVI) do not help. My question was
really about upcoming Media Center PCs and if they would have HDMI outputs,
if these will even become common. Obviously, since the new OS is geared
toward HD, that HDMI will become (is?) the HD standard because of DRM, that
the goal should be for these PCs to connect to the HD standard and have HDMI
outputs. Is this logical and should I expect such PCs or am I out in left
field? I can buy any number of HDTVs with DVI and connect one of my PCs or
MACs to it. I just don't want to spend thousands on another TV.
