I have a problem where I can't customize the favorites folder icons in
my user profile, yet I can do it in 1) diagnostic startup 2) new user
profile, or 3) safe mode.
If I do a full startup and log in with a new user profile (admin
privildeges all profiles) I can navigate to the problem user profile
favorites folder
C:\Documents and Settings\John Jackson\Favorites
and can change folder icons but if I log in as John Jackson I can't
change my own favorite folder profiles.
Something is loading that stops me from being able to do it.
I can make the change, get no error message and my newly assigned icon
for that favorites folder appears for about 1 second and then reverts
back to manilla folder icon.
Rather than doing a diagnostic startup and turning on items one by one
and rebooting to see where the problem lies, can you think of a
selective startup route where I don't have to reboot and can manually
load these items one at a time to see where the favorites folder
problem occurs?
P.S. Copying my problem user profiel to a new user (right click my
computer / advanced / user profile settings / just creates a new user
profile that also has the problem.
