Actually, those instructions don't mention anything about re-encoding
recorded tv to discs that you can play in standalone DVD players. The fact
that these instructions are published in the manner that they are suggests
that HP doesn't include the sonic encoders.
You can burn data CD/DVD from within the MCE 10" interface, however the
instructions that HP give you are a little wrong.
Step 2 should be amended to Insert a blank DVD+RW, DVD+R, CD-RW, or CD-R
disc.
Step 3 should be amended to Select More Programs.
Omit Step 11
The Sonic encoders (if HP provided or provides them) would give you
additional options, but it is also accessed in the same manner (MCE Main
Page, More Programs, Create CD/DVD)
If you don't see the Create CD/DVD option in your More Programs category, it
*might* not be installed. To confirm that the Create CD/DVD option is
enabled, goto Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows
Components and Make sure the 'Sonic DVD and CD burning' component is
selected. You will only see this on a MCE2005 machine (it is not available
on earlier versions of MCE). Every MCE2005 machine can install the 'Sonic
DVD and CD burning' component.
Note that abovenoted component is NOT the same as the Sonic Encoders that
Doug and I mentioned (that is something different, and available only from
OEMs who decide to offer it).

Many OEM's include the Sonic DVD encoders, but some do not. I would be
suprised if HP did not, but since they have to license them for inclusion on
their systems........... You need to talk to HP support, as MCE 2005 is an
OEM supported product. They will have to provide any missing/necessary
software.
