I don't believe that this problem is so simple. I had the same problem
between the Linksys extender and my HP Z545 (CPU 3 Ghz + 1 Mg Ram). Linksys
blamed HP and HP blamed Linksys. I've just setup the Xbox extender and I'm
still receiving the System Thermal Notice. Called HP and they said that the
extender units are somehow reading the bios off the PC and making a false
determination as their (HP's) units are built to operate at higher
temperatures than the extenders have been programmed to be acceptable (I
checked my bios and the HP is 120 degrees F which seems high to me but not to
HP support). HP seems to feel that the vendors of the extenders should
provide more leeway in the acceptable temp levels or a workaround when
something like this happens. I'd like to be able to at least select the
Ignore button when the Notice pops up and not have it constantly pop back up.
I'm currently on hold with Xbox Live and waiting for a return call from HP
but not sure that there's a resolution to be found.
