Re: Can not connect to domain

I believe Seacon would like to connect to a domain and is not aware that a
standard MCE2005 installation does not permit this which is a topic for this
Newsgroup.
The reason for this is that MCE2005 uses Fast User Switching to support the
use of extenders and Fast User Switching is not available in XP Pro. The
MCE2005 solution to this was to remove the ability to join a domain and to
add the fast user switching capability.
If you install MCE2005 using the OEM version you can select to join a
domain, however, you can not then use extenders.
This problem is supposed scheduled to be fixed in Longhorn and I have heard
that there are some workarounds available which involve the how the NIC card
initializes at boot time. There maybe some information on
TheGreenButton.com on how to implement such a workaround.
A side benefit of this problem to MS was that it enabled them to charge the
OEMs less for the MCE OS than they do for the standard XP Pro release.
