Just the case is different. Some people like the A/V look, especially if the
system is going in a media center in plain view. However if the system is
not going to be that visible, the tower type systems are probably cheaper
(oh the price we pay for style). The smaller, sleeker cases also may have
more issues with what component will fit, exandability in the future, and
cooling.

I built my system and used an A/V style nMediaPC case from Egghead, so far I
am pretty happy with it. It's not the smallest around, but it seems to stay
cool, has decent space, quiet, and was reasonably priced.
