i ran into that problem the first time i got media center...
what i had to do is search for my cable provider's website, and look for a
zip code on that site to use (usually on a contact page, or something like a
'find your local provider office').
this may help you, also: go to zap2it.com (this site supplies information
for the guide), type in your zip code in the box at the top right of the
page; when you hit submit it should take you to a list of available
providers. if you see your provider, then zap2it may have been doing some
type of work, and you might have just tried it at a bad time.
