Or could the main reason be that they don't want you to use a 3rd-party DVR with their service? I'm sure they'd prefer that you purchase/rent a DVR from them.

Hi Bob... I called Dish and they couldn't figure out a way to stop the sleep mode.. which is new with the 322...so I am trying the "auto tune" timer feature on the Dish.. this wakes up the rec'r and will set it to a channel too (which isn't necessary as long as the auto tune comes on ahead of the computer's record command).. so its an extra step..
