I am having similar problems with my machine. I have not completely fixed
this yet.
However this is what I do know so far.
1.) MCE will not work with DVD decoders which are not MCE certified. So it
could, theoretically, play the DVD in WMP and not MCE.
You download the DVD Decoder checker from microsoft download (search for dvd
decoder).
2.) If you have an HDTV and are connecting via the component (YprYbr
connections) the DRM will not allow you to play the video. It is recommended,
by the quick start guide, that you use the S-video connection (you can't
connect both at the same time).
