Bob, did you apply the HP patch, or just the Microsoft one linked in your
post? The HP patch is what you need. I certainly have shared your
frustration, by the way.
Here are the problems and solutions I am aware of:
SP2 causes MCE sound to not work on TV or when playing music in My Music.
You get a message "Audio Error; To play music in Media Center, Install
Windows Media Player 9 or repair your current installation"
Solution: You do not need to unintsall SP2. Run the HP patch. Then reboot.
If you did uninstall SP2, or had not installed it in the first place, install
it and then reboot. Music should now work.
My Radio or other buttons on MCE do not appear.
Solution: Go to control panel and Set Program Access and Defaults and check
them on and reboot (or off, reboot, turn on, reboot again).
