RE: No Media Center (Black screen)

I am just so glad I have found people with the same problem, I have been
pulling my hair out with this one. I have a Shuttle based system with an
Nvidia Geforce 5200 with latest drivers from the Nvidia site.

MCE 2005 works great however if I leave my system over night, turn on in the
morning I get the dreaded black screen. As you say I can see the mouse and
shutdown using task manager but it so frustrating. I noticed that you can
even hear the cursor moving from menu item to menu item, it seems as though
the video card has locked or froze.

There seems to be no pattern that I can see at the moment. Last night I was
using the MC no problem watching live TV. Set it to record a couple of
programs an hour later. Came in just after they were due to finish and got
the black screen.

I dont think however this is related to the scheduled recording as I've sat
and watched it record several scheduled shows with no problems. Just seems to
be intermittent.

I now have a personal war with my Media Centre and am trying to get to the
bottom of this. Today I am going to swap my Video card for my sons ATI based
card and see if I get the same thing.
