Ok, I found the problem. I had recently set up task schedular to do a
differential backup each night on to a DVD+RW disk. I left the disk in the
DVD burner all the time so it would be available for the backup. Ity seems
that when the computer attempts to resume from standby with the disk in the
drive it encounters some kind of error and reboots. When I remove the disk
the machine will enter and resume from standy normally. I think this is a
hardware specific problem as I have my other machines set up the same way and
the don't have the same problem. The drive is a samsung DVD+-RW DL. and the
ATA driver is the NVidea NForce2 driver. I may try switching to the default
windows ATA driver to see if that is the problem. Otherwise it must be
specific to the drive and possibly a firmware update might solve it. I'll
post further after I've tried those two items.
