RE: HP 873n Media Center upgrade

Nope, you cannot do that. You need to create your Recovery CDs from your
computer. Click Start, All Programs, HP Tools or something about Tools and
try to find an application is called Recovery CD Creator. Then run that
program and that will burn your Recovery CDs; you will need about 8 blank CDs
or one blank DVD. Otherwise when you call HP you will need to pay for the
Recovery CDs. (PLEASE HP Customers, when you purchase a brand new desktop
computer you won't receive the Recovery CDs, ALWAYS you need to create them
from your computer.)
So replace your Hard Disk for a new one. Use the Recovery CDs to install a
new Operating System on it. After that, upgrade from 2004 to 2005 with your
Upgrading CD. Just understand you will loose your warranty and any software
support from HP if you do that. And that motherboard model will accept a 7200
RPM Hard Disk with no problems.
