RE: Viewing Composite Video in Media Center

If your MCE is configured with an STB, the tuner will capture signals using
either composite or S-Video (depending on which inputs you have in your
tuner). If you have configured it to use analog cable (w/o STB), it will
capture using the RF-in. AFAIK, it will not capture signals using both RF as
well as composite/S-Video.

The way to go about it would be to set up your MCE using an STB
configuration, which will allow you to use the composites. Once that is done,
you would have to put in a hardware A/B composite switch (from RadioShack,
for example), and manually switch between the two things (STB and XBox) by
pressing a button on the switch. The other option is to unplug one device and
plug the other one.

MCE will continue to think that you are watching TV. You should be able to
watch it on any channel. If you have an RF-in arrangement, you will only be
able to watch it on channel 3 or 4. Do keep in mind that there will be a
noticeable lag if you are trying to play a game on the XBox.

Just curious -- does the VAIO allow it to be used only as a TV/Monitor
without booting Windows XP? If that is the case, you will be able to play an
XBox games just fine.
