XP keeps hanging - update

Further to my original post of 25/4.....(see details below) I have tried
suggested remedy and need further help......!

I have tried chkdsk from 'my computer' right click etc and selected both
options. Chkdsk ran when the machine next rebooted and reported that the
volume was clean. Have also Defragged.

When I checked event viewer after chkdsk I found the following error/warning
message:
"IPSec Services: IPSec Services failed to get the complete list of network
interfaces on the machine. This can be a potential security hazard to the
machine since some of the network interfaces may not get the protection as
desired by the applied IPSec filters. Please run IPSec monitor snap-in to
further diagnose the problem." This message has occured a number of times so
look suspicious!

Additionally the following message has occured when switching from one user
account to another (which invariably hangs the system):
"Windows saved user OZZY\Mark registry while an application or service was
still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's
registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no
longer in use.

This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring
the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account."

Third piece in the jigsaw is a message about the server not registering
with DCOM within the required timeout.

Any ideas or am I looking at a re-install?

Thanks
