We've established that the issue is unrelated to your router or your
Extender and doesn't appear to be due to a firewall issue, which doesn't
leave much that could go wrong.
Try checking the Application, System, Security, and Media Center Event
Viewer logs (right click My Computer --> Manage) for any errors
corresponding to the time that you tried to play music/videos/TV and then
post them here.
Absent an obvious problem in the event log, unfortunately the next step
would be to restore your PC to a known-good state using the recovery disk
that came with it.
