Nigel,

Thanks a bunch for that info! I had no idea that there even was a program called VideoRedo. I've downloaded it to try it out. But from looking at the screenshots, etc. it appears to be awesome.

Thanks again.

Currently I use PowerDirector on my recorded TV shows to get the mpeg files and then TMPGenc to process those files. After that, I use TMPGenc Author to edit and process prior to burning to DVD.

My question is this...

Sometimes I record an entire 60 minute TV show (such as the Tonight Show) and only want the musical performance. If I use DVR-Edit and cut everything that I want from the TV show, can I then take the resulting DVR and still process it with PowerDirector and go through the rest of my "normal" process? Or will editing the DVR-MS file with DVR-Edit cause the file to be permanenty a DVR type file (I hope my question makes sense).

What I'm trying to do is free up hard drive space by removing parts of the DVR-MS files that I don't want prior to processing. I'd like to save a bunch of performances from various shows and then when I get enough of them, burn one DVD with all the performances on it. If I were to keep all of the ENTIRE TV shows to get a bunch of clips, a lot of unnecessary hard drive space would be taken up with stuff I don't want.

Any suggestions you can give to me is greatly appreciated.

BOB C.

For a proper editing package take a look at the very wonderful Videoredo
www.videoredo.com which now has support for editing DVR-MS files & saving them
as MPEG2. It's not free but worth every cent.
