Re: Anybody's machine working most of time?

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I built my own MCE system and I use it strictly on a standard NTSC
television with plain old analog cable. I therefore do not have the problems
that some people have with inconsistent channel-changing on set top boxes,
nor do I have any issues with attempting to use HDTV. I also have my own
software for scheduling recordings, and so I do not rely on the one built
into MCE. For the most part my machine runs for weeks on end without any
problems.

Having said that there are a few minor quirks that I'd like to see
addressed. One such quirk is a tendency for the MCE app to return to the
main screen as though I'd pressed the BACK or WINDOW button on the remote. I
can quickly solve this whenever it occurs by just shutting down and
restarting the MCE APPLICATION (not the O/S). I have some trouble if I try
to use Sleep Mode, and so I've abandoned that in favor of leaving the
machine running 24/7.

Beyond that I've been quite happy with the stability of my MCE machine. It
records everything I ask of it, and it doesn't generally crash or restart on
its own.
