The error message was on the Media Extender. It said:

There is a problem with the Microsoft Product Activation on the Media Center
PC

Error code: 00110003

That was all that was on the screen.

I had disabled Mac Filtering on my switch. I have disabled the firewall on
my Media Center PC, as well as Antivirus.

The install process seems to work, Here is the cliff's notes of what I saw:

I did a factory reset of the extender. This makes a new connection, and
gets a new activation key.

Removed the old media extender software on media center PC - rebooted

Put in the CD

Installation of Media Center Software

..... Installing

Extender Activation
- I entered the Extender Key that came with the device.

Microsoft Product Activation
Activating the Media Extender over the Internet

MS Product Activations
Congratulations, your software has been successfully activated.

Enter Extender Key

-- I entered the Key that was on the TV on the extender.

Check box beside - Make all My Docs available
Applying Permissions

Content Settings
Use the same media folder

Check beside - Enable Error Reporting

Connecting to the Media Extender

Verifying
Creating a user account

Media Center Extender Setup is Finished.
