I know exactly what you feel. I had to have a new hard drive sent for my
ZD7015 laptop because the one that was in the laptop when I bought it died on
me (causing all data to be lost). I was even told by an HP rep that they
weren't using quality hard drives, which is really reassuring... Then, a few
months after, my PVR died on me. I spent countless hours with their support
line (or lack of support line), which did not resolve the problem. They sent
me a new pvr which didn't solve the problem. Mind you, they did not send any
cables with the new pvr. And get this, after literally three months of phone
tag, I was told that it was the power cable of my pvr which might be the
issue. They did not yet send me a power cable, since it is back order.
However, I proceeded to order one in Canada for 30$ and problem solved. I am
satisfied with the laptop but will never buy from HP ever again.
To address your problem, does it say that it cannot find a tuner card or do
you get the following message: "“Files needed to display video are missing or
corrupt. Please restart Media Center and\or the computer”." That was the
message I got. If the problem is that it cannot find your tuner card, your
best bet would be to proceed with the reinstallation of the card and update
the drivers. Let me know if I can provide additional assistance.
