Sorry for the multiple posts, I have been through the relevant threads on
this and other forums and I am stumped. I have a Linksys MCX and I cannot
get it to connect. Today, I tried enabling the firewall, (added exception
ports on windows firewall 3776 5555 7777 for UDP).

The Startup Tracker (thanks to Doug Knox) contains:

Previous posts:
List night I tried:
- using a different router (SoHoware NBG800)
- installing the Linksys Rollup
- disabled all Symantec virus programs in MSconfig
- crippling my wireless router by changing WPA to WEP (in case the MCX was
still trying to use the wirelesss connection)
- Installed KB 888316 - Resolves issues that might occur with the Electronic
Program Guide (someone else posted a message that they thought it helped them)
IT IS STILL NOT WORKING!

I have the firewall turned off, but I am not sure if the ports 3776 5555 and
7777 are open (it shouldn't matter if the firewall is turned off but I am
grasping at straws at this point). Also, should these ports be opened for
TCP or UDP?

These are the last entry in my c:\windows\DvcConn.log

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME. IF I DON'T GET IT WORKING IN THE NEXT WEEK THE MCX
IS GOING BACK TO WHERE IT CAME FROM.

I don't consider re-installing Windows Media Centre 2005 an option. (I
would have to spend two days to rebuild this system).
