Lucky me to find a post that discusses what I'm trying to do, at least
in theory.
I've got a 6600GT in my office and also have a Toshiba tube based HDTV
set (great looking set BTW) in there. I was about to buy a new dvd
player to go with it when I decided "why not use my pc?". So I ordered
a shiny new DVI-HDMI cable (the toshiba only has HDMI, no DVI) and
figured I could get this puppy working...
Well, so far at least, that is not the case. I updated to the latest
drivers and they seem to detect the TV properly (it's on the 2nd DVI
output, I also have a CRT connected for computer use). THe problem is
that teh image quality just isn't what I would expect... I set a custom
resolution for that display to match the 720P I would like to run in.
But it hardly looks better than S-video to TV used to look. Also, when
I try to fire up a DVD in PowerDVD or media player, the window just
goes black. meaning, if I have the player window on my PC CRT, it plays
fine, when I drag it over to the HDTV, it's just black.
I'm having little luck finding any kind of info on setting this thing
up with a Hidef set. I followed the directions on Nvidias site for
connecting an HDTV up as a monitor. But things just aren't working out
as I had hoped. Any direction would be appreciated!
