Thanks, everyone, for your help! I tried doing a full system restore to
factory settings, but this didn't fix the problem. I've also updated to the
latest BIOS (3/05) and drivers available on the HP site, again no solution.
Last month I installed a new BIOS (2/05 -- since removed the HP site), and
the computer wouldn't restart. HP repaired this problem but the Stand By
crash has been occuring ever since.
The error is hard to read because the computer restarts almost immediately
after the blue error screen appears when coming out of standby. It says
something about "a crucial process or thread has been terminated...."
