Discovered that it's more than just the Xbox extender. I tried installing
the MSN remote record plug-in and it gave me the same error about not being
MCE2005.
The image CD i used was the one that came with the Gateway system. I've
installed a few other things on the system since re-imaging (Digital Image
Suite 10, RealAudio, Winzip, etc. Also installed a couple programs from
xpmce.com like the My Movies, NetFlix and Weather.com plug-ins)
My guess is one of these or perhaps some windows update patch modified a
.dll or reg entry that is being checked for version; but I have no clue what
it's checking.
