I Need help!

I’ve bought / built 2 PC, the first is the big server style storage unit and
the second is a under TV desktop type.

I also have a 1GigaBite Ethernet network (all Cat 6), I’ve created a the
home network using all netgear equipment, my old machines and new laptops all
work on the home network using MS Windows XP Home.

The Spec for the main PC is:
Asus A8V Rev.2 Deluxe (Socket 939) Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester 90nm (Socket 939)
Corsair 512MB DDR Value Select PC3200 CAS3.0 Kit (2x256MB) (VS512MBKIT400C3)
XFX GeForce FX 5200 128MB DDR TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (PVT34KNAHG)
Leadtek Winfast TV2000 XP Expert (Inc. Remote Control) TV Card

SYSTEM MAIN HD:
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80GB 6Y080MO SATA 8MB Cache - OEM

FOR STORAGE SPACE:
Highpoint Rocket RAID 1640 4-channel SATA RAID 5 Host Adapter
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 NCQ 300GB 6B300SO SATA 16MB Cache

ADDITIONAL ITEMS:
Sony DDU1612 DVD-ROM (Black)
OcUK Value Floppy Drive
Logitech Ultra-X Keyboard
Optical Wheel Mouse Black
Akasa Ultra Quiet 460W Paxpower Active PFC ATX2.0 PSU - Black Nickel
Microsoft XP Media Centre 2005 Remote Controller
Nice big server still case from Chieftec BA-01B-B-B (WELL RECOMMENDED)

OPERATING SYSTEM:
Microsoft Windows XP Media Centre 2005 Edition

The other is the same but smaller case (Silverstone LC03 Black – mint!) and
no additional raid 5 HD etc.

I will be using these PC as media centers on my network to access anywhere
my music, DVD and record TV ect.

The problem I have is XP Media Center! Mainly the OEM problem!

I have bought separate copies of MS Windows XP Media Center for each new PC.

I’ve installed separate copies of MS Windows XP Media Center on each PC but
they don’t see the network when I run the Network Wizard. I also have
problems installing other software i.e. problems with RPC server etc. I can
get the software installed when I go to the Administration tools (Computer
Management: Services) and start the files manually. I’ve tried setting the
files to Automatic but they do not start up.

I know it is not a problem with the new machines because I installed a
normal copy of Windows XP on one of the machines and the setting in the
Computer Management: Services start correctly and I can see my home network.
I also can install the software without any error problems or system hanging.

It seems Media Center software does not work correctly is there a patch /
fix to resolve this problem. I’ve also tried installing the Services Pack 2
but it makes no difference. The problem is with the Computer Management
Services i.e. the files not starting.

I've spoken to Microsoft and they told me “I’m on my own, that’s what you
get for buying OEM you’ve paid a reduced price for it”, Me: “so can you buy
this product any other way”, MICROSOFT “errr no!”.

Sorry back to the problem, I’ve tried looking on the net (for a few weeks),
how do you set this programme up / install it correctly. All I can find on
the net is how wonderful this product is and how to set up the Media side of
the MCE i.e. setting up the video connections to this etc. I just want this
box to work standalone first!
