After 8 months of the same configuration as you described,
and the past month struggling with bugs, spys and soforth,
I've decided to toss the Mc suite that came with the
machine and have instead select three seperate, individual
programs to accomplish what needs to be done. PC-Cillian
for the anti-virus (seems much more robust and current
than Mc); Spy Sweeper by Webroot to deal with uninvited
guests'; and the XP built in firewall. I have cable and
have placed a router between the cable box and the PC as a
necessary and useful line of security.
I've been bugless since switching and XP has been more
stable.
Good Luck.
