Barb,
My power settings are currently set to "energy star" with
Turn Monitor off = 20 min
Turn H/D off = 25 min
Standyb = 1 hr
I'll try setting it to "always on" and see what happens.
As for your other question ...I'm running Symantec Internet Security 6.04.35
and Norton Antivirus 9.05.15
HP Support suggested I try applying the following patch.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6563dea6-fac0-4604-9418-f20640cc7a20&displaylang=en
which I applied last Sunday. Since then I have not recieved the "tuner not
found" error but I'm now getting this error:
"Video Error: Files needed to display video are not installed or not working
correctly. Please restart Media Center and/or restart the computer"
or this error:
the IR Blaster will not change the channel on my set-top box .. see 2/17/05
post/thread "recording wrong channel" from "media man" in the newgroup
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?&query=IR&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=microsoft.public.windows.mediacenter&p=1&tid=00621326-d608-48d9-829d-71bb8aeb1bc2
Like always a restart of the computer solves the problem but this constant
issue of having the IR USB remote fail is making using the Media Center PC
as a PVR un-reliable
I've also experienced the same problems after I upgraded to MCE 2005 as
listed in this post
Media Center 2005 - IR blasters are totaly unhelpful! in Windows Media
Center Discussion posted 11/27/04
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?&query=IR&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=microsoft.public.windows.mediacenter&p=1&tid=2ed656ec-c2e7-4e74-92bd-791b95692cb9&mid=2ed656ec-c2e7-4e74-92bd-791b95692cb9
Bottom line is the IR Blaster appears to have all the same issues that it
had when I first got my HP 864 with MCE 2002. When I upgraded to MCE 2004
the IR Blaster reliability got signficantly better with less than 10% of my
programs not recording correctly. Since going to MCE 2005 some IR Blaster
problem occurs at least every few days requiring me to unplug/replug the IR
USB cable or reboot the PC.
I really don't think I'm alone in reporting IR Blaster problems .. just do
a search for "IR" in the MS Media Center and TheGreenButton.com newsgroup
and you will see lot's of examples of problems users are experiencing since
MCE 2005.
I look forward to your suggestions for how to "prevent" these errors from
occuring at least when they do occur it is really easy to fix :) Again,
I'll try the "always on" power mode and let you now how it goes.
Thanks,
Chris
