Thanks for the reply,
I tried changing around the input cable both direct and through a cable box
and wired it via an s-video cable and an audio component feed so I think the
feed is good. When I isolated the video and audio both had the same issue so
the caputure card and/or driver is my best guess but both I have the latest
driver and replaced the card. I am stumped.

HP send me the same tuner card and it made no difference...

since both the video(goes to B&W) and the audio (gets scratchy) I suspected
a weak cable feed but this is the cable that goes to my internet modem. It
was tested and the cable company put a special line in for the internet to
get a pure digital signal.

I do have digital service vesus analog but the conexant should handle that
at at least I think it is suposed to and does well most times...

any other thoughts?
