Your dimension has 3 lines out (G, Y, Bl) which plug right into the dell 5.1
surround sound speakers. You can unplug all of those and use the line out
(green) on the PC and plug that into the line in (line in, CD, aux in)on the
Sony amp. If your Sony is a true surround sound you only need the one line
in from the PC. The Sony will take the signal and handle the decoding and
seperation. You can also use the tape out and run that into the line in
(blue) for the PC. This will allow you to loop back and play the radio,
Turntable, 8 track that is plugged into your Sony onto your PC. This is nice
if you want to burn some records to CD to listen in the car. Hope this helps.
