Trouble installing PVR-250 cards

Hey guys,

I have 2 MCE machines, 1 of them is a 2004 machine with a PVR-250 retail
card in it, the other one is a 2004 machine with a PVR-250 MCE. When
MCE 2005 was released, I decided to upgrade my main 2004 machine, with
success. I then decided to move the PVR-250 retail tuner from my other
MCE 2004 machine to the new 2005 machine, to make it easier to schedule
recordings. This worked fine for a few weeks, but then one of my tuners
stopped working. I would get an error that the tuner could not be
accessed whenever I tried to schedule a recording at the same time the
first one is scheduled to record something. I gave up on this and
figured I would just rebuild the machine since it was an upgrade to
start with, and I would rather have a clean 2005 install.

So last night I finally rebuilt the machine, installed MCE 2005, and
this is where the problems start. Both tuners are listed as a
"Multimedia Video Controller" in unknown devices, so I tried to install
the latest MCE drivers, which Hauppauge now offers for download (I used
the shspvr.com drivers before), but they won't take, and I tried this
with both cards. I tried the regular PVR-250 drivers, same problem. So
I moved my PVR-250 retail card back to the 2004 machine, and the card
works fine there, so it isn't a hardware problem. Now I have just one
tuner left in my 2005 machine, the PVR-250MCE, and I am still having the
same issue. When I try to run the setup from the driver CD, it says it
can't find the card, and the drivers still won't take. I have cleared
the system several times with the utility provided by Hauppauge, and
tried again, but still no go.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this card to work? I
have rebuilt this 2005 machine several times in the past (when it was a
2004 machine), and never had these kind of problems.

Thanks!

dan
