Hve you tried installing it from Windows XP CD ? You need to go into
"Regional and Language options" section in your Control Panel. Make sure that
you have your Windows XP CD in your CD/DVD drive. Then when you go in, click
on the "Language" tab and make sure on the bottom by Supplemental language
support, that install files for complex script ... is checked and also
Install files for East Asian ... is also checked, click on Apply. After some
time, and the installation is done, you need to then click on Advanced tab
there and on the "Code page conversion tables" you need to check
"10001(MAC-Japanese)" 2290 (IBM RBCDIIC - Japanese Katakana extended" is
checked. Click on apply to do more installing. Then finally go back into the
Language tab and click on "Details" button and click on ADD and under "Input
Lanugage", choose Japanese, hit ok, Apply then OK again to get out of there.
Reboot and you should now be able to use the language bar.
