Yes, this is caused by XP/MCE2005 not sending a resolution/refresh
instruction to your video adapter.

When coming out of standby, your video adapter is re-initialized to the
resolution of the OS (which is why you can see the logon screen), but MCE
usually runs in a different resolution than the OS when you are connected to
a TV, and this new resolution is not communicated to the video adapter, so
when you switch to MCE, all you see is black.

If you move your mouse, you'll see the pointer re-appear. Try and click in
the area of the screen where the minimize widget within MCE appears. If you
get lucky, you'll hit it and MCE will minimize. You'll now be able to see
the Windows desktop. If you right click on the MCE tab in the start bar and
select 'maximize', MCE will maximize (hehe), and your video adpater will be
resynced with the correct resolution - so you'll be able to see the MCE UI.

Another work around, is to close MCE before you put your machine into
standby. Recordings will still work since 'eshell' is a service that runs in
the background. Then when you come out of standby, you just have to hit the
green button to re-open the MCE UI.

Hopefully Microsoft will fix this in an upcoming release or patch.
