As Dana mentioned, you probably want to look into some sort of
distribution amp. Your local Radio Shack should carry what you need.
Be sure to place it as close to the original cableco feed from the
street as possible, then split signals after the amp only.
If your signal is that finicky, then you probably have a weak signal to
start with so every split along the way causes more issues.
Also ensure that your splitter is a 1GHZ bi-directional splitter. If
not, it may actually block your cable modem signals.
