Hi,

I eventually got a fix from the supplier. The fix involved updating a
regsistry key before the machine was rebooted after the service pack was
applied:

The instructions were as follows:

Install SP2 from the specific CD you have. Once the installation completes
you will be prompted to restart the PC. At this point click NO/RESTART LATER.

Locate the file you downloaded, this should be called SP2FIX.REG, and double
click it.

You will get a message that your are going to merge the registry entry file.
Click yes to accept it and then click OK

The SP2FIX.REG file contained the following registry key:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\intelppm]
"Start"=dword:00000004
