I'm hitting the same thing trying to show some media center recorded TV on my
families PC over Christmas. I've been able to watch these files fine on my
tablet PC & my personal desktop PC.

Note that you used to have to download an update to a PC if you wanted to
watch a MS-TV show on it. The update is at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=FB4C2C2E-60EA-4ED9-BC68-E93C9E65C58E&displaylang=en.

However, this page only mentions adding the update on top of XPSP1, and when
I tried to install the update on my family's XPSP2 box I got the following
error message...

"Q810243 Setup Error...

Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of the system installed is
newer than the update you are applying to it.

You can only install this update on Service Pack 1"
